Why is there evil in the world?

Wisdom from our Wednesday evening Bible Study, February 6, 2013:

We had a discussion as to why is there evil in the world.

Answer: In the beginning, when God created everything, there was no evil.
There was one will in the universe, the will of God. When God created the angels, he gave them free will. One of the angels, Lucifer, was apparently the greatest angel of all. He was responsible for taking the worship of all God’s creation to Him. He was the worship leader. But one day his heart got lifted up in pride and he said “I will be like the most high God.” He wanted to be worshiped. Thus, a second will entered into the universe, a will contrary to the will of God. This is the origin of evil and this is evil: any will contrary to the will of God is evil. Lucifer was so powerful, that he was able to mislead one third of God’s angels in his rebellion. So today we have fallen Angels. He also tempted Adam and Eve to sin, and sin entered into mankind. Thus today, we have billions of beings who have a will contrary to God’s will. So don’t blame God for the problems in the world. He created a perfect world, without pain and suffering, but this world is in rebellion against him. Lucifer, who is now call Satan, or the Devil, is responsible for all the pain and suffering that we have in the world today. We are separated from God by our sins and rebellion. But the Lord has made a way back to him through his son Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Not my will, but thy will be done.” If we will just trust in Jesus and believe in him we can be redeemed back to God, forgiven of our sins, and God will change us to bring our will in conformity to His perfect will for our lives. We have this promise from Him of Redemption and that we will be in Heaven with Him, and live in eternity in accordance with his will. “Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven…for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. A-men.”
