Wednesday night wisdom:
During a recent Wednesday night Bible study, we studied 2 Chronicles Chapter 29, the glorious reign of King Hezekiah over the Kingdom of Judah. When he came to the throne, the Kingdom was in idolatry. The new King repaired the temple which was partially damaged. He called on the religious leaders, the Levites and the priests, to sanctify themselves before the Lord, to serve Him, to minister unto Him and burn incense again in the temple. They were to re-establish the Temple worship of the Lord. They obeyed and also cleansed the temple. King Hezekiah and the priests offered great sacrifices unto the Lord and began singing His praises and worshiping Him. The people joined in the singing and worship of the Lord. It was a glorious time of revival in the Kingdom of Judah. The final verse in the chapter, verse 36 says, “Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people.” God always prepares us for what he has prepared for us. There was great revival in the Kingdom of Judah, and the people rejoiced.
We had a beautiful time of prayer following the study. The children’s prayers were especially moving as they thanked Jesus for all He is doing among us, and asked God to bless our church and our country.
Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bears rule, the people mourn.” Pray for our nation, that the Lord will put righteous leaders in authority in our land.
